The Refinery

The Refinery The Pine Bend refinery is the 11th largest refinery in the United States and is a major supplier of transportation fuels and energy products to Minnesota and the upper Midwest. Every day Flint Hills Resources processes 12 million gallons of crude oil into gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, LPG and other products.

In the simplest terms, FHR does three things at the Pine Bend refinery:
  • receives and stores crude oil and other materials
  • processes the crude oil into useable products
  • stores those products and loads them into pipelines, trucks, rail cars and barges
