Although this site is a collaborative effort, Flint Hills Resources and the Minnesota Center for
Environmental Advocacy are two very different organizations with their own independent missions
and objectives. Circumstances led both groups to realize they had before them an unusual
opportunity to act cooperatively to reach desired outcomes that would otherwise be difficult to
achieve on their own. The two organizations are briefly described below. To find out more about

Flint Hills Resources LP is a leading provider of transportation fuels used in the Upper Midwest. Flint Hills' Pine Bend refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of approximately 280,000 barrels per day and employs about 800 people full-time. Flint Hills Resources is headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to its Minnesota facilities, Flint Hills Resources has a refining complex in Corpus Christi, Texas; a refinery in North Pole, Alaska; a chemical intermediates plant near Joliet, Ill.; as well as associated capabilities such as marketing refined products, base oils and chemicals, and other crude oil supply activities.

The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the environment in Minnesota. MCEA's mission is to use law, science and research to protect Minnesota's natural resources, its wildlife and the health of its people. With a reputation grounded in careful research and policy, MCEA is a trusted voice in Minnesota's environmental community.
