New data, easier to access

Flint Hills Resources (FHR) emission data for 2004 is available. You can see FHR emissions data in comparison to historic emissions, as well as emissions from other Minnesota sources and other US refineries. (TRI comparison data between FHR emissions and MN sources and refineries is based upon 2003 data. State and federal agencies update their databases a year after reports are submitted.)

Environmental data isn't always easy - to understand, to believe, or even to find - no matter who measures it or reports it. And it isn't easy for an environmental advocate and an oil refinery to work together. But that's exactly what the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) and Flint Hills Resources (FHR) are doing with this site.

The mission of Flint Hills Resources, maker of transportation fuels and energy products, is to be safe and clean while still creating value. MCEA's mission is to use law, science and research to protect Minnesota's natural resources, its wildlife and the health of its people.

Together, they have created a transparent view of the environmental performance of FHR's Pine Bend refinery in Rosemount, MN. Call up graphs that show the exact emissions - and impacts - of the refinery. See how FHR is doing on its 5 year/50% emission reduction plan. Put this data in context and learn what it means to you. And learn about the collaboration between FHR and MCEA that gives this site credibility.
